The rhythm of the year
Four seasons, four compositions.
Each season's composition is written only once the plants are in — we will not know the exact box until the harvest does.

Spring
Blossom before leaf.
The orchard in flower: hawthorn and tilia blossom, first green growth and the young leaves of the orchard.
In the glass: Pale, floral and faintly green — blossom caught at its brief peak, before the leaf closes over it.

Summer
Long light, full leaf.
Meadow and field at their fullest: flowering herbs and the first fruit under summer sun.
In the glass: Lifted and bright — flower and early fruit together, the lightness of long days poured cold.

Autumn
The harvest turns.
Damson and elderberry at their darkest, quince in perfume, hawthorn berries strung along the hedge.
In the glass: Deep, winy and dark-fruited — ripe orchard fruit against the dry perfume of quince, the year at its ripest.

Winter
Roots and bark.
The ground's own store: roots, bark and late berries, the hedgerow stripped and the orchard asleep.
In the glass: Dark, quiet and deep — structure drawn from below the frost, holding the year until it begins again.
